The grand finale of India Couture Week 2024 recently illuminated the capital with a spectacular showcase of opulence and heritage. The designer duo Falguni Shane Peacock presented their latest collection, 'Rang Mahal,' in collaboration with Swadesh and jewellery partner Tanishq. This event highlighted fashion elements inspired by the regal and dreamy aspects of India's royal heritage, creating a mesmerizing blend of contemporary design aesthetics and traditional craftsmanship.
Bollywood showstoppers:
The event was graced by the presence of actor Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, who walked the ramp as showstoppers, embodying the grandeur and elegance of the collection. Rashmika Mandanna turned heads in a stunning ivory lehenga adorned with intricate sequins and beadwork.
The lehenga featured a drop-beaded shoulder design on the blouse, complemented by a gracefully draped long veil. Her look was completed with open, flowing hair and smokey eye makeup that highlighted her natural beauty. Sporting some beautiful traditional jewellery like a delicate mang teeka and hath panja, Rashmika’s showstopper look was an elegant ode to the era of bygone.
Bollywood heart-throb Vicky Kaushal, on the other hand, embraced a regal aura with his pale golden dust sherwani, meticulously embellished with heavy sequined embroidery. The outfit was paired with powder-golden ivory pants and matching loafers, creating a harmonious and sophisticated look that exuded luxury and refinement. The pair looked pastel perfect and posed happily for the camera crew and audience, while the live music by the Bombay Choir captivated the audience with some desi songs.
All that bling:
The show displayed Tanishq’s exquisite collections, harmoniously blended with Falguni Shane Peacock’s latest designs. The collaboration beautifully merged contemporary design aesthetics with the rich heritage of Indian craftsmanship, bringing to the fore the talent and skill of Indian artisans and weavers. The intricate details and elaborate designs showcased at the event highlighted the meticulous work and dedication of these artisans, creating a visual feast that celebrated India's rich cultural legacy.
The collection drew inspiration from the regal and dreamy aspects of India's royal heritage, reimagining traditional motifs and patterns in a modern context. Each piece in the collection told a story of opulence and elegance, reflecting the splendor of India's royal past.
Matching the aesthetics of handcrafted luxurious textiles from Swadesh and FSP, the real jewellery was a big highlight for the show. The high jewellery line from Tanishq dazzled the ramp with rare stones such as aquamarine, tanzanite, pastel tourmalines, rare citrines, emeralds, and sapphires. The models wore some intricate Vilandi Jadau designs crafted in Bikaner, Victorian Polki necklaces adorned with uncut Polkis, and regal Rajwada Kundan necklaces with their bridal outfits with Chikankari work, mesmerizing Picchwai work and opulent Zardosi. Vibrant Meenakari art and captivating inlay work with Chalcedony centerpieces added a splash of colour, celebrating the unique journey with timeless elegance and contemporary charm on the runway.
