Sonam Kapoor gets innovative for festivals in a khadi lehenga and clay corset

As the festive season approaches the famous Diwali parties are in full swing in tinsel town. Recently, Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor made a high-fashion appearance at a well-known designer’s Diwali party and proved her mettle as a fashion icon with a striking new look. Known for her unique fashion sensibilities, Sonam's recent Instagram photoshoot showcased her traditional and contemporary festive look a beautifully crafted khadi lehenga paired with a clay corset, capturing the essence of sustainability and cultural heritage.

At a recent Diwali celebration in Mumbai, the style queen paid tribute to the revival of traditional craftsmanship with her own unique interpretation. For the party, she wore a khadi lehenga and dupatta, designed by designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, and paired it with clay body ornament (bodice) created from Karnataka red soil and Multani clay by The Vernacular Modern. Her outfit garnered a deep interest by fashion lovers for harmoniously blending the elements of earthiness and elegance with a dash of sustainability. In her Instagram post, Sonam eloquently expressed, “Wrapped in khadi and the earth’s essence, honoring tradition and the divine within.”

By choosing materials sourced from the earth, Sonam not just showcased her fashion-forward thinking but also paying homage to the artisans and the rich cultural heritage of India. Her sister Rhea Kapoor, who curated her aesthetic look, combined terracotta hues of the lehenga to the striking green jewellery from her mother Sunita Kapoor and dedicated the look for celebrating the inner goddess on Diwali.  The stylist informed in her social media post that the festive ensemble was not just a highlight of Sonam's wardrobe; it was part of a broader narrative presented during the Isola Design Week in Milan, under the theme “Future will be Sown.”
