  • Repeated negative behaviors can create heavy karma and affect social connections
  • Taking without giving, holding emotions, and jealousy are key patterns to avoid
  • Promises and conscience maintain balance and harmony.

Many of us are aware that karma works on the principle of cause and effect. However, it is not one big wrong action that leads to misfortune, but a series of behaviours that are unconsciously repeated that create heavy karma. These small patterns are not even realised by us but affect our social connections and cloud our awareness.

5 actions that bring heavy karma

Here are 5 such behaviours that you may not know that bring heavy karma.

Taking without giving

In any relationship, imbalance is created when you take more without giving in equal measure or more. It speaks of self-centredness and prioritising yourself over others to get ahead. This is sometimes done by taking credit, demanding attention, or depending on others emotionally.

When not reciprocated, the act disturbs emotional connection and creates trust issues. The universe favours harmony and balance, and this lopsided behaviour doesn’t  help.

Holding in pent-up emotions

When you hold in emotions of anger, sadness, resentment, or guilt, it settles into your energy and seeps into everything you do, creating a heavy karma. This leads to more anxiety and frustration, hampering your social connections and everyday life.

To avoid this, it’s always best to speak what you feel and be open to honest communication.

Ignoring your conscience

There’s a reason for which your instinct whispers before the loud noises of the world take over. If you continue to ignore your instinct, it is bound to land you in misfortune or trouble.

Staying in a toxic workplace or an emotionally draining relationship is an example. When you listen to logic and reason, it tires you and blurs your clarity.

Not keeping promises

Promises are meant to be kept, no matter how small or big they may be. If you break them, you cause disappointment, heartbreak, and hurt to someone. Your words should not feel empty, they should align with your actions.

A mismatch creates an imbalance and makes you feel guilty and disoriented. These add up and create heavy karma.

Being jealous

When you’re jealous, you settle into a negative energy that speaks of discontentment and unhappiness with your own life. It is a toxic trait that makes the universe realise you are not grateful for what you have and this energy further deprives you of the good you could have received. Comparison and feeling of envy only harm and hamper your growth.
