Those who dream of seeing the Northern Lights in Norway for their beauty are in for a treat. A photographer shared a picture capturing a slice of this heaven. What stood out, among the many pictures already available on the internet, was how the green lights formed a glowing heart, leaving many awestruck.

Norwegian photographer Kristoffer Vangen shared the beautifully captured photo on his Instagram account. It looks straight out of a fantasy and is truly mesmerising. And guess what? The soft heart shape in the warm radiance of the night sky was captured just a few days ahead of Valentine’s Day.

Sharing more details, Vangen’s January 21 post detailed how he had long desired to capture the Northern Lights in a distinct shape, but in vain. He found the lights messy and never defined enough to form something recognisable until his luck changed just in time.

He wrote, “I always wanted to capture the northern lights shaped as something,” adding that over the years he had imagined seeing birds, tornadoes, even skull-like forms in the aurora. “It’s been close a few times, but I never felt the shape was clear enough. It just looked messy.”

Things turned around for him in the first month of this year, and the sky finally obliged. He added, “I finally got something! Perhaps a heart is a bit cliché, but I’m not complaining.” The internet was equally impressed, but many couldn’t believe whether it was real or AI-generated.

One user who loved the picture said, “Mind-blowing… People who think this is AI don’t know nature is more magical than they think.” Many others called it “the most romantic aurora ever.” However, a section was in doubt, with one saying, “Looks AI to me due to those slightly blurry edges on the heart.”

With a large number of internet users questioning his work, Vangen ended the speculation by explaining in his stories how the shot was taken and edited, without affecting the authenticity of the shape.
