The “Dubai Dress,” touted as the world’s heaviest gold dress, is gaining traction on the internet not just for its weight but also for being made from pure 21-karat gold and valued at $1.08 million. Recognised by the Guinness World Records as the heaviest and most valuable gold dress, the show-stopping piece is the creation of a Saudi brand called Al Romaizan Gold and Jewellery.

Dubai Dress sets new world record

While everything about the dress stands out, what truly stuns is that it weighs 10 kilograms, making it the heaviest gold dress in the world. It is a visual delight, studded with precious stones that enhance its appealing design. Also, the masterpiece is made of pure 21-karat gold and valued at a whopping 3.5 million UAE dirhams. It comes with four accessories, including:

  • A golden crown weighing 385.50 grams
  • A necklace weighing 8,741 grams
  • Earrings weighing 136.76 grams
  • A Hiyar piece weighing 738.5 grams

Showcase of fine craftsmanship

The unique gold dress is inspired by traditional Emirati culture, with its detailed patterns and carvings reflecting the UAE’s rich history. The gold arm bracelet and ornate crown highlight the exceptional craftsmanship behind this masterpiece. The dress required more than 980 hours of continuous work to craft.

Internet reacts to the Dubai Dress

While the dress has been made with a larger vision in mind, the internet couldn’t stop having fun. A user wrote, “Just curious—who can wear this and where can they go wearing this?” Another joked, “Why wear another material underneath? A dress is a dress.” A netizen commented, “She could barely move in the outfit. I guess she’s being careful so that it doesn’t fall apart.” There were even a few who felt the model wearing the dress looked like Uorfi Javed.

However, there was a section that took it seriously, and one person said, “I wish they would feature the artisans behind it rather than the brand itself.” Another pointed out, “Our ancestors wore these things in their daily life in ancient times.”

Display of the Dubai Dress

The dazzling gold dress was showcased at the 56th Middle East Watch and Jewellery Show in Sharjah, one of the largest jewellery events in the UAE. The show brought together over 500 local and international exhibitors. Additionally, it displayed the work of around 1,800 designers and artisans from all over the world.
