As we enter a new season in the fashion cycle, wardrobes naturally shift with lighter layers, refreshed palettes, and considered investments replace impulse buys. Amid changing trends, one accessory continues to hold steady appeal: a well-crafted watch. More than a functional object, a watch today is a marker of taste, intent, and individuality. It is often the one piece that stays constant even as outfits change.
Watches today are more about self-expression and less about keeping time. They sit at the intersection of fashion, heritage, and personal storytelling. As Deepak Chhabra, Managing Director at Timex Group India Limited, puts it, “Buyers today are not just upgrading for price points, but for design credibility, heritage, and storytelling. Sports and motorsport-led themes work particularly well, given the increase in Formula 1 fandom across the world and in India, particularly. At the same time, consumers continue to value timelessness, which is why designs anchored in legacy remain relevant. This balance between heritage and modern performance cues is what is driving renewed interest in the premium watch segment.”
This renewed interest is evident in how watches are being styled. No longer reserved only for formal occasions, watches are worn daily as dependable companions that adapt to work, travel, and social settings. Dial colours and finishes are evolving accordingly. Performance-inspired designs with bold accents sit alongside clean, understated dials that offer maximum versatility.
The idea of strictly “men’s” and “women’s” watches is quietly dissolving. A watch becomes part of your style story no matter where you take it, and today’s consumers want pieces that move seamlessly across settings. Men are increasingly gravitating towards smaller case sizes — styles that may once have been marketed exclusively to women, while women are exploring sportier silhouettes and bolder finishes.
A spokesperson at Omega explains, “Practical considerations guide the choice. Finding the right scale for your wrist matters, it’s important to consider how different case sizes and dial colours work with your personal style. Black and blue dials offer the most versatility, while orange dials make a bolder statement while stacking bracelets creates visual interest alongside your watch.” This crossover approach has led to timepieces that are adaptable, inclusive, and far more personal.
One of the most noticeable shifts is the growing appetite for premium and luxury watches. Rising incomes, aspirational buyers, and a deeper appreciation for craftsmanship are pushing consumers to invest in pieces with strong design narratives. Collaborations rooted in pop culture such as Superman-themed watches, or performance-driven collections like those inspired by Aston Martin are being embraced as both collector items and fashion statements.

Interestingly, the smartwatch category is experiencing a cooling phase, while analog watches are seeing resurgence. Hybrid watches blending subtle smart features with traditional analog design are emerging as a middle ground. Chhabra adds, “On the design front, case sizes and straps are becoming more ergonomic and wearable, with lighter materials and improved proportions. Even trend of smaller case size is picking up, in line with the global trends. An important shift is also coming from women buyers, whose participation in the category is increasing steadily. This is pushing brands to offer greater variety in sizes, finishes, and materials, while ensuring comfort and everyday functionality remain central to design decisions.”
