Kangana Ranaut may not have been seen in films of late, but her sartorial choices continue to fascinate fans even when she is attending the parliament. Her latest outing on Day 1 of the budget session didn’t go unnoticed either. The gorgeous saree she wore had everyone’s attention for the right reasons.
In one of her Instagram stories, Kangana revealed that she sported a Madhubani saree, which is known for its intricate patterns, vibrant colours, and cultural motifs. Her saree with the deep purple base looked striking with its gold design and detailed border with rich artwork. She paired it with a matching purple blouse.
The actress’s hand-painted drape with its bright hues reflects her love and pride for traditional craftsmanship. Just like the parliament winter session last year, she styled it with a neutral-toned coat featuring black buttons that balanced the look. The outerwear added structure and looked perfectly warm for winters.
For accessories, Kangana wore a pair of gold-toned earrings and classic aviator-style sunglasses. The black-heeled ankle boots added a contemporary touch to her ethnic look and her black handbag added to the refined, polished vibe. With this flawless appearance, Kangana proves why she remains a fashionista, whose style game always inspires.
Considering she is known for her parliament sarees, Kangana took to her Instagram and shared more about the saree. She wrote, “I meet a lot of women who keep asking me about my parliamentary sarees. Honestly, I still keep discovering how much our nation has to offer us. I didn’t know anything about Bihari sarees. This saree is from Bihar and this is a Madhubani art work.”
For those who might not know, Madhubani art originated from the Mithila region of Bihar, India. That is why it is also referred to as Mithila painting. Known for its elaborate designs, bold hues, and symbolic motifs, the art form is created using natural colours and pigments on surfaces such as handmade paper, fabric, and walls.
Often these paintings depict mythological themes, elements of nature, and moments from daily life. Some of the most frequently used motifs include peacocks, fish, lotus flowers, and geometric patterns symbolising prosperity and fertility. The artwork employs the use of brushes, twigs, or fingers in a way that it fills the canvas with intricate detailing.
