Colour blocking has always been in vogue, and with the onset of spring, it’s gaining even more attention. Technically, the term refers to pairing two or more contrasting colours in distinct blocks, either in a single garment or through separate pieces. Today, the concept has evolved into a broader style approach, extending to accessories and solid monotone ensembles. Celebrities have always been upbeat about colour blocking, offering plenty of inspiration on how to style it effortlessly.

Take a cue from Twinkle Khanna, who dons a solid blue silk shirt with a sharp collar, paired with a crimson asymmetrical skirt - both pieces crafted from luxurious silk. The sheen and interplay of dark-toned hues make for a striking combination, reflecting an adventurous spirit. Just like her emerald earrings, these solid colours can be complemented with statement accessories.

Try pairing bright colours with neutrals like Hania Aamir. The social media star dons a body-hugging lime green dress, cinched at the waist, and offsets its vibrancy with a dull grey oversized coat. A pair of metallic grey heels seamlessly ties the outfit together.

If you are in the mood for monochrome, take inspiration from Malaika Arora’s all-scarlet suit. The actress exudes power and sophistication in well-fitted blazer and trousers with a matching tie, while a crisp white shirt peeks through for contrast. Red pumps match the outfit perfectly, while golden accessories add flair – perfect inspiration for those who love single-hued outfits.

The same is with Ananya Panday, who looks delightful in a sequined aqua crop top paired with a matching skirt featuring a thigh-high slit. And that’s not all! She elevates the edgy co-ord set with high-heeled strappy sandals. This look is structured yet fluid, elegant yet bold.

Wamiqa Gabbi proves that single-toned outfits can be just as striking. She looks pretty in a scarlet off-shoulder dress that hugs her figure beautifully. The bold colour takes centre stage, accentuated by matching shoes, soft curls, and minimal accessories – letting the outfit do all the talking.
