Valentine’s Day glow isn’t about heavy makeup or last-minute salon appointments, it’s about skin that looks healthy, rested, and naturally radiant. If your skin has been feeling dull or tired lately, a few simple, natural changes can make all the difference.
According to Dr Akanksha Agarwal, Founder & Director at Centre for Aesthetics, here are five easy ways to bring back your glow just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Dull skin is often a sign of dehydration. When your body doesn’t get enough water, your skin loses its natural plumpness and starts to look tired. “Drinking enough water throughout the day helps flush out toxins and keeps skin cells hydrated. Adding water-rich fruits like watermelon, oranges, and cucumber to your diet further boosts moisture levels. Pair this with a lightweight moisturiser to seal in hydration and instantly improve skin brightness,” Dr Agarwal recommended.

A buildup of dead skin cells can make even healthy skin look flat and uneven. Gentle exfoliation helps remove this layer, revealing fresher and brighter skin underneath. For this, Dr Agarwal suggested using natural exfoliants such as oatmeal, rice powder, or mild fruit enzymes. These work well without being harsh. Limit exfoliation to once or twice a week, as over-exfoliating can lead to irritation and sensitivity.
Your skin reflects what you eat. Diets high in processed foods and sugar often show up as dullness or breakouts. Dr Agarwal said, “Focus on antioxidant-rich foods like leafy greens, carrots, beetroot, nuts, and seeds. Vitamin C–rich fruits such as oranges and amla help boost collagen production and naturally enhance skin brightness, giving you a healthier-looking complexion from within.”
Facial massage is one of the quickest ways to wake up dull skin. It improves blood circulation, reduces puffiness, and adds an instant natural flush. “Using a few drops of facial oil, gently massage your face in upward and outward motions for five minutes daily. Regular massage helps relax facial muscles and enhances overall skin tone, making your skin look fresher and more radiant without any extra products.”

No skincare routine can compensate for lack of sleep. Poor sleep and high stress levels increase cortisol, which can lead to dullness, breakouts, and uneven skin tone. According to Dr Agarwal, aim for seven to eight hours of quality sleep each night. Reducing screen time before bed and incorporating calming habits like deep breathing or light stretching can significantly improve your skin’s natural glow.
Healthy, glowing skin is the result of consistent care, not quick fixes. By hydrating well, eating mindfully, caring for your skin gently, and getting enough rest, your natural glow will shine through for Valentine’s Day and beyond.
