Gastroenterologist Dr Saurabh Sethi took to his Instagram account to share a turmeric latte recipe, calling it a “gut-friendly” drink and adding, “It’s a science-backed way of fighting inflammation.” He also mentioned a secret ingredient that most people skip.

Sharing the recipe, Dr Sethi listed 5 easy steps to make the beverage:

1. Start with a cup of milk. If you’re using dairy milk, bring it to a gentle boil first, and if you’re using plant-based milk like almond or soy, just warm it gently. Don’t boil or it can split

2. Add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric that is enough for health benefits without being overpowering.

3. Here is a secret that most people miss - Add a pinch of black pepper. Piperine in black pepper boosts turmeric absorption by up to 2000 percent

4. Add 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, it can help support blood sugar balance.

5. Whisk until frothy. Feel free to sweeten lightly with honey if you like.
