Stand-up comedian Zakir Khan left his fans disappointed after he announced a lengthy hiatus from live performances during his Hyderabad gig in January. He initially noted that he was taking a break due to personal and health concerns. He has since addressed the persistent rumours and disclosed the true cause of the break.

During a recent Spoken Fest, Zakir Khan clarified to his fans that he has a lot of writing gigs that he has to complete. He also noted that although his health is not good, it’s also not that bad. He also called out the media reports for exaggerating his break from the live performance.

The stand-up comedian said, “The story about my break is that I had a lot of writing work that I hadn't been able to do for the past six years. My health is not very good, but not too bad. What you've read on the Internet is false. All these unnecessary things are just rubbish."

He added, "The people writing it are also terrible, and on top of that, they mention that a very close family source has confirmed this. My family stays with me, so we see each other's faces-asking who said anything?"

He reiterated that he does not currently have any significant health problems. He only wants to devote more of his attention to the writing he has been putting off.

Zakir Khan revealed his break during a Papa Yaar tour event in Hyderabad in the second half of January.

Zakir declared that he will be reducing the number of shows he does, with only a few more scheduled in a few places.

The break might extend anywhere from three to five years, Zakir Khan revealed in an open statement from the stage. The comedian said that he did not make the decision lightly and that his health issues and the necessity to resolve personal issues that he had been putting off for a while were the main reasons.

Previously, Zakir hinted at the break in a story he posted on Instagram. He confirmed that the choice was definite in a follow-up post after arriving in Dubai.
