  • Release delayed due to Middle East tensions affecting cinemas
  • Promotional campaign to be rescheduled closer to new release date

The much-anticipated trailer launch event for Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups, starring Yash, has officially been cancelled following the film’s release postponement to June 4. The event was earlier scheduled to take place on March 8 in Bengaluru and was expected to mark the beginning of the film’s final promotional phase ahead of its previously planned March 19 release.

The Bengaluru launch was designed as a grand media spectacle. Journalists and entertainment media from across the country had been invited, and the event was meant to unveil the trailer while kickstarting an aggressive nationwide promotional campaign. With the film originally set to arrive in theatres on March 19, the trailer event was positioned as the moment when the makers would reveal the film’s scale, tone and world to audiences.

However, the film’s producers decided to postpone the release after recent geopolitical tensions began affecting cinema operations in key overseas territories. As a result, the promotional campaign, including the high-profile trailer launch, has now been halted and will be rescheduled closer to the new release date.

The decision is largely linked to instability in the Middle East, an important market for Indian films, particularly those with global distribution ambitions. The region has been witnessing escalating tensions after the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran. In response, Tehran carried out missile attacks on Israel and US military bases across the Middle East. With the conflict continuing for several days, theatre operations and audience turnout in the Gulf region have become uncertain.

Following discussions with international distribution partners, the makers opted for a strategic delay to ensure a smoother worldwide rollout. With the new June 4 release date, the film will now avoid the previously anticipated box office clash with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which was also scheduled for March 19.

In an official statement, producers KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations reaffirmed that Toxic was conceived as a global cinematic spectacle. The film has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam to reach a wider audience.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas and co-written by Yash, the film features an ensemble cast including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria in significant roles. The project has been mounted on a massive scale and is positioned as one of the most ambitious Indian releases in recent years.

The production team has confirmed that the promotional campaign will now be redesigned in line with the new release timeline. A fresh promotional roadmap, including the new trailer launch plans, is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Until then, fans will have to wait a little longer for their first detailed glimpse into the world of Toxic.
