Indian origin social media influencer Nancy Grewal was fatally stabbed in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She was well-known for her vocal opinions on political and religious matters pertaining to Punjab. She had also established a strong internet presence by offering insightful analysis on current events.

Who was Nancy Grewal?

Nancy Grewal, whose real name was Anita Agnihotri, was a YouTuber and social media celebrity of Punjabi descent. She was 45 year-old. She was born in Ludhiana and attended Satluj Public School after completing her studies in Sirsa.

According to her Facebook profile, Nancy completed her postsecondary education at a national college.

Following her studies, Nancy moved to Calgary, Alberta, before relocating to the Windsor/LaSalle area of Ontario. Further details of her family have yet to be known.

Nancy was well-known for speaking openly on events in Punjab and the larger India-Canada relationship. She had previously called out Gurinder Singh Dhillon, the leader of the Dera Beas, Bikram Singh Majithia, an Akali leader, and imprisoned MP Amritpal Singh.

She also voiced her strong condemnation of Khalistani followers during the diplomatic difficulties between Canada and India. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were mentioned in her criticism, especially in relation to Canada's handling of separatist-related issues.

Nancy Grewal also voiced worries following the discovery of social media personality Kanchan Kumari, popularly known as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi, deceased in Bathinda in June 2025.

What Happened to Nancy Grewal?

Officers and paramedics responded to a stabbing report just before 9:30 p.m., according to the LaSalle Police Service. Nancy Grewal had serious stab wounds when they got there. Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services took her to the hospital, but her injuries ultimately claimed her life.

In the official statement shared on social media, police said, “The LaSalle Police Service offers our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ms. Grewal.”

Authorities have characterised the situation as an isolated incident.

The deadly assault happened around two weeks after the area saw its first homicide of 2026.

Nancy Grewal's identification has been verified by the police, who have declared the case a homicide. Officials have not yet revealed a motive or confirmed whether any suspects have been taken into custody. The inquiry is still in progress.

Residents in the neighbourhood are being asked by investigators to submit any surveillance material, such as dashcam or doorbell camera recordings, that could aid in the case's resolution. It is requested that anyone with pertinent information get in touch with Crime Stoppers or Detective Sergeant Jamie Nestor.
