After going through a challenging period in his personal life, India’s cricketing star Shikhar Dhawan is stepping into a beautiful new chapter.
The Gabbar of Indian cricket recently thrilled fans when he confirmed his engagement to long-time partner Sophie Shine. Sharing the joyous news on social media, Shikhar Dhawan wrote, “From shared smiles to shared dreams.
Grateful for the love, the blessings and every good wish for our engagement as we choose togetherness forever. -Shikhar & Sophie.” Fans and fellow cricketers flooded the post with congratulations, celebrating the couple’s happy milestone.
Although the announcement has just come out, it seems the couple has been quietly planning their future together for some time. Now, all eyes are on their upcoming wedding, which is set to be a grand affair in February 2026.
A source close to the couple told Hindustan Times that the ceremony will take place in the Delhi-NCR region during the third week of February.
The wedding is expected to be star-studded, with cricketing legends and Bollywood personalities in attendance. Yet, despite the scale, Shikhar Dhawan and Sophie Shine are keeping the focus on the personal and emotional significance of the day.
As the source shared, “It’s a new beginning and they are treating it with quiet happiness and a lot of gratitude.” Shikhar Dhawan is reportedly personally involved in the planning, ensuring that the celebrations reflect his journey and growth.

Sophie Shine, originally from Ireland, is a highly accomplished professional. She earned a degree in Marketing and Management from the Limerick Institute of Technology after studying at Castleroy College. She has also worked as Second Vice President at Northern Trust Corporation in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Today, she serves as COO of Da One Sports and leads the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation, running charitable initiatives that touch thousands of lives.
The couple’s story began quietly, reportedly meeting for the first time at a restaurant in Dubai. Rumours swirled when Sophie Shine was spotted at Punjab Kings matches in 2024 and at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but they kept their bond private for a long time.
It wasn’t until June 2025 that Sophie Shine confirmed their relationship on social media. Since then, the pair have shared glimpses of their life together through heartfelt posts and playful reels.
