Former Miss India Earth 2019 winner Sayali Surve has spoken openly about one of the most difficult chapters of her life, announcing that she has returned to Hinduism after alleging prolonged harassment during her marriage to businessman Aatif Tase.

Now based in Pimpri-Chinchwad, she has undergone what was described as a “purification process” and has changed her name to Aadya Surve.

Who is Sayali Surve?

Born in Mumbai and raised in Pune, Sayali Surve holds a master’s degree in aviation, according to her profile on mrsindiaearth.com.

Sayali Surve married Aatif Tase, a businessman from Mira-Bhayandar, in 2019, despite reported opposition from her family.

After the wedding, she converted to Islam and her name was changed to Ateja Tase. However, what she had hoped would be a new beginning soon turned into a period she now describes as deeply painful.

Speaking to the media, Sayali Surve did not hold back about her experience. "Marrying Aatif Tase was the biggest mistake of my life," she said. She alleged that the harassment began shortly after the marriage and claimed that she had been forced to convert.

Sayali also mentioned that she approached the police several times for seeking help, but felt that she did not receive meaningful and the needful support.

Sayali also revealed that as the situation worsened, she felt more isolated and distressed. After months of enduring what she described as mental and emotional strain, Sayali Surve reached out to Hindutva organisations for guidance.

With their support, she decided to return to her original faith. A ceremony was organised in Pimpri-Chinchwad, where rituals including a havan and the chanting of mantras were performed as part of her reconversion.

In an emotional appeal to other women, Sayali Surve said, "Any girl who is enduring such things, please don't endure it. God has not given us life to lose in front of such Ravanas. Don't get discouraged. I was there for 10 years because I have four children. I spent so many years thinking that as a mother I should allow my kids to get the love of both their parents. But as a human being, my patience was over. I had to come out for my children."
