Shah Rukh Khan’s life may be filled with premieres, private jets, and five-star hospitality, but when it comes to food, the superstar keeps things almost boringly simple. In a throwback interaction that fans still talk about, he explained why he hardly visits restaurants and his reason was unexpectedly relatable.

“Mujhe samaz nahi aata. Main isly restaurants bhi kaafi kamm jata hu,” he said with disarming honesty. “Kyu ki main koi ek normal sa chicken order kar dunga. Tandoori chicken ya grilled chicken main order kar deta hu. Main ghar mein bhi wahi khata hu. I eat very normal food.”

Over the years, Shah Rukh has often spoken about his disciplined eating habits. He prefers home-cooked meals and usually carries his own food to film sets. His typical lunch includes fish or tandoori chicken, sometimes paired with sprouts or a simple vegetable dish. Dinner is equally straightforward. “Tandoori chicken with tandoori roti, generally, and a mutton dish once in a while,” he once shared.

When asked about comfort food, his answer was immediate. “Tandoori chicken. I am addicted to it and I can eat it 365 days a year.”

Restaurants, for most people, are about indulgence and variety. For Shah Rukh, they seem unnecessary because he already knows what he wants. There is no temptation to experiment with elaborate menus or chef specials. If he steps into a restaurant, he admits he will end up ordering the same grilled or tandoori chicken he eats at home. So why go out?

Interestingly, the superstar has also revealed that he does not enjoy junk food or desserts much. He occasionally eats ice cream or chocolate but largely sticks to his routine. He has even mentioned that he avoids fruits. His wife, Gauri Khan, sometimes makes him a “nice ice cream with digestive biscuits,” a rare sweet indulgence in an otherwise controlled diet.

At a time when celebrity lifestyles are often associated with extravagant dining and luxury cuisine, Shah Rukh Khan’s food choices feel refreshingly grounded. Despite global fame, red carpets, and private jets, his preference remains a plate of simple grilled or tandoori chicken.
