In Bollywood, few names resonate like Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan. Hailed as the last of the true superstars, the trio has captivated generations with their films, charisma, and sheer screen presence.
While they share a warm camaraderie off-screen, fans have never stopped debating who truly holds the title of the “biggest star.”
Aamir Khan, ever candid, once shared his own perspective on this, offering a rare glimpse of humility from one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated actors.
During the promotions of his 2016 blockbuster Dangal, Aamir Khan was asked whether he thought Salman Khan was a bigger star than himself.
He didn’t hesitate to admit, “He’s always been a bigger star than me. There’s nothing new. I always considered Shah Rukh, Salman, and Amitabh Bachchan bigger stars. There are a host of stars whom I consider big, and this includes Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. There are so many stars who are hugely popular. I don’t get into comparisons.”
He even joked about the sheer aura of stardom, saying, “When I see Salman walking into a room, it feels like a star has arrived. When I enter, it looks as if a waiter has entered. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t say that because waiters are great people. I shouldn’t say that, but when Salman enters or Shah Rukh enters, it feels like a star has come… they are bigger stars than me.”
The year 2016 was significant for both Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, with Dangal and Sultan releasing just months apart and achieving phenomenal success.
While Sultan earned Rs 607.84 crore worldwide, Dangal went on to break records, raking in an astonishing Rs 2,070 crore globally.
Beyond the box office, the bond between the stars has remained heartwarming. Before the release of Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, both Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan visited him and the cast to spend time with specially-abled children — a gesture that showed the human side behind the superstar personas.
Adding to the excitement, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are set to make cameo appearances in Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, Bads of Bollywood, releasing on Netflix on 18 September.
Looking ahead, each Khan continues to chart their own path: Aamir Khan awaits his next production, Lahore 1947, starring Sunny Deol; Salman Khan is shooting for Battle of Galwan; and Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in Siddharth Anand’s King, alongside Suhana Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Abhishek Bachchan.
