Indian filmmaker and Actor Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film Nishaanchi is already buzzing, and a big part of that chatter is newcomer Vedika Pinto. The actor, who first broke out as the viral “Liggi girl” from Ritviz’s hit music video, is now stepping into Kashyap’s raw, desi world as Rangeeli Rinku, a role that’s quickly turning heads.

Audiences caught a glimpse of Pinto in the trailer and didn’t hold back on social media. Words like “refreshingly real” and “a breath of fresh air” popped up across comments, with some even comparing her to the golden-era heroines of Hindi cinema. Not bad for someone making her big Bollywood debut.

Vedika Pinto on her experience

Talking about the experience, Vedika admitted it wasn’t all easy. “Nishaanchi has been the most challenging experience of my career so far but also extremely rewarding. Working with a cinematic legend like Anurag Sir just brought out a side of me I didn't know was hidden. He made sure that every scene, every emotion and every moment on set was raw, fearless and pushed me to the best of my potential each time."

"Being in his film felt like a dream come true but at the same time felt like a huge responsibility. When he called me Kanpur’s Madhuri Dixit, it was surreal and daunting. Nishaanchi has been a masterclass for me; it was very challenging to work with Anurag Sir but the end result is just magic. I hope audiences enjoy this side of me as Rangeeli Rinku in the film," she added.

Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the film dives into the twisted tale of two brothers who choose starkly different paths, with debutant Aaishvary Thackeray taking on a fiery double role. The ensemble also features Monika Panwar, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub and Kumud Mishra. Produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh under Jar Pictures in association with Flip Films, the drama hits theatres on September 19.

For Vedika, though, this debut is already shaping up as more than just another launch. From viral music fame to the big screen, she’s found herself in the middle of a Anurag Kashyap masterclass.
