'Heeramandi' has been lauded by many but there have been critics to it as well who felt that it wasn't the exact portrayal of the red light area which is now in Pakistan.
Richa was seen in the role of Lajjo, who is in love with a nawab but kills herself after facing rejection and humiliation.
It was a short and brief rol in the show and Richa had revealed in a recent interview, that though she was offered another role she wanted to play Lajjo.
"I have experimented with characters that have a grey shade, like Bholi Punjaban or Tara in Madam Chief Minister. Basically, I get accused of playing only empowered characters, so I felt the need to break that stereotype and surprise the audience. I wanted to play a part of a hopeless romantic and leave the audience with goosebumps. That’s exactly what’s happening. People are calling me in tears,” she said.
Heeramandi has been streaming on Netflix since May 1 and the series has become the talk of the town.
