Gaurav Khanna is experiencing an amazing year. Following his victory on Celebrity Masterchef, where he showcased his culinary talents, the Anupamaa actor entered the Bigg Boss 19 house. In the show hosted by Salman Khan, he faced criticism for being passive at times, with contestants such as Amaal Mallik labelling him as ‘two-faced.’ A major topic of controversy during his appearance was his and wife Akanksha Chamola's remarks regarding not wanting to have children.
Although the actor conveyed his desire to have children, he mentioned that his wife does not share that wish.
Gaurav Khanna expressed his thoughts on how his comments regarding Bigg Boss 19 have been viewed and emphasised that he wishes no negativity is aimed at his wife for choosing not to have kids.
In an interview with ETimes, Gaurav said, "Primarily, I wish to clarify that although it might seem like her sole choice, it is indeed a shared and personal decision made by both of us. Certainly, she has the option to choose not to have a child, but that decision is shared equally by both of us.”
He rejected any assertions that ridiculed them for their choice, stating, “Thus, implying that I am discontent while she is happy is completely illogical."
The 44-year-old expressed admiration for his partner, describing her as an ‘incredibly resilient woman’, and noted that it's unreasonable to challenge a woman’s decisions in the current society. “Existence revolves around individual choices, and we are all encouraged to live according to our own standards. If an individual selects a specific route and their partner remains unwaveringly supportive, then there's truly nothing else to discuss.”
During her appearance on the reality TV show for Family Week, Akanksha Chamola stated that she does not intend to become a mother. “I possess numerous reasons (to refrain from having a child). And I sense that if you seek for reasons, then you're not prepared,” she had shared.

She continued to express that she believes she may not be capable of such responsibility, “It’s not simple to have a child and nurture it. It is a significant obligation. I believe I can't adequately fulfill the role or responsibility of raising a child. At this stage or at any moment.”
She remained resolute in not letting others' opinions about her ambition affect her, even if they deemed her selfish.
