The next generation is now inheriting the legacy of veteran actor Govinda, who was renowned for his memorable performances and flawless comic timing throughout the 1990s.

Yashvardhan Ahuja, his son, is preparing for his eagerly awaited Bollywood debut. Sunita Ahuja, Govinda's wife, recently talked candidly with ETimes about their son's preparations and her opinions on his path into the movie business.

Sunita noted how seriously Yashvardhan is taking his debut and expressed pride in his commitment and zeal. She disclosed that the young actor regularly talks to her at home about screenplays and movie concepts.

“Yash is preparing himself very well, he’s working very hard. He dances well. He acts well. And very soon, next year, we will see him on screen. Yash is the one who always asks me, ‘Mum, this is the subject, this is the concept.’ We have discussions at home,” she said.

Offering her son some important guidance, Sunita shared that she urged him not to follow in his father’s footsteps too closely. “I told him, don’t copy Govinda. I don’t want my son to be tied to Govinda’s image. You have to make your own style. He will make a better name than Mr Govinda as well,” she added confidently.

Even though Govinda hasn't been in the movie business for a while, his legacy includes a number of successful films, including Raja Babu, Saajan Chale Sasural, Hero No. 1, Aunty No. 1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Coolie No. 1. His most recent movie role was in Rangeela Raja (2019), which sadly did not do well at the box office.

Yashvardhan obtained behind-the-scenes experience working on big Bollywood productions like Baaghi, starring Tiger Shroff, and Dishoom, starring Varun Dhawan, before taking the camera.

Sai Rajesh, a National Award-winning filmmaker, will direct his first project. According to reports, the untitled movie is a Hindi adaptation of Rajesh's critically acclaimed Telugu film Baby.
