"Stree 2," featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, is making waves in the Indian film industry with its impressive box office performance. Despite not benefiting from the 'Janmashtami' holiday, the film is inching closer to the Rs 500 crore mark in India, showcasing its immense popularity and the audience's strong connection to the franchise.

The horror-comedy film, directed by Amar Kaushik, had a phenomenal start when it released on Independence Day. The first day's collection, including paid previews, stood at a staggering Rs 54 crore. This strong opening set the stage for the film's continued success, with "Stree 2" consistently drawing audiences to theaters across the country.

The film's performance over its second weekend was particularly noteworthy. It amassed a significant Rs 42 crore on its second Sunday, a figure that far exceeded expectations. However, the subsequent Monday saw an inevitable dip, with collections dropping to Rs 18.5 crore. This decline continued into Tuesday, despite some parts of India celebrating Janmashtami. The holiday did not provide the expected boost, and the film's earnings dropped further to Rs 11.5 crore on that day, as reported by Sacnilk.

As of now, the total domestic box office collection for "Stree 2" stands at an impressive Rs 414.55 crore. The film's ability to maintain a steady collection rate, even after the initial hype, is a testament to its widespread appeal and the strength of its storyline, performances, and direction. The film has resonated well with audiences across different demographics, drawing crowds from both single-screen theaters and multiplexes.

The success of "Stree 2" is even more remarkable when considering the competition it faced. Released alongside "Khel Khel Mein" and "Vedaa," the horror-comedy not only held its own but also significantly outperformed these films. This is a clear indication of the strong brand that the "Stree" franchise has built and the anticipation that surrounded this sequel.

One of the key factors contributing to the film's success is its unique blend of horror and comedy, a genre combination that has a wide appeal in the Indian market. The film effectively balances scares with laughs, keeping audiences engaged throughout its runtime. Moreover, the star-studded cast, including Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana, has also played a significant role in drawing audiences to theaters.

Looking ahead, "Stree 2" is poised to continue its strong box office run. While it remains to be seen if it will cross the coveted Rs 500 crore mark, its current trajectory suggests that it is certainly within reach. The film's performance over the coming days will be crucial in determining whether it can achieve this milestone.
