In his Instagram post, Sonu Nigam addressed the exaggerated media reports and assured his fans that the situation was under control.

Sonu Nigam has set the record straight regarding reports of stone-throwing at his recent performance at Delhi Technological University’s (DTU) Engifest 2025. The singer took to Instagram to clarify that no stones or bottles were hurled at him during the concert. Instead, he revealed that a vape was thrown onto the stage, hitting one of his band members, and later, a "Pookie hairband" was tossed his way.

In his Instagram post, Sonu Nigam addressed the exaggerated media reports and assured his fans that the situation was under control. He explained, “Nothing like hurling of stones or bottles as mentioned in some media happened at DTU. There was one Vape thrown by someone on stage that hit Subhankar's chest and that's when I was informed about it. I paused the show and requested and reminded the collegians that the show will have to be abruptly stopped if something like that happened again. The only thing hurled on stage after that, was the Pookie band. Which was really Pookie.."

Despite the minor disruption, Sonu Nigam’s performance at DTU was a hit, with several videos of him singing his popular tracks going viral on social media. One of the standout moments was when he donned a pink bunny headband flung at him by the energetic crowd while performing Tumse Milke Dil Ka from Main Hoon Na, a song originally picturised on Shah Rukh Khan.

During the concert, he also addressed the audience directly, requesting them to enjoy responsibly. “Main aapke liye aaya hun yahan pe so that we can all have a good time. I'm not asking you to not enjoy, but please aisa na kariye (I've come here for you so that we can all have a good time. I'm not asking you to not enjoy, but please do not do this),” he said.

This is not the first time Sonu Nigam has had to deal with an unruly crowd. Just last month, the singer expressed his frustration over a similar incident during a concert in Kolkata.
