Son of Sardaar 2, which hit theaters on August 2, has witnessed a noticeable dip in its box office performance following its first weekend.
According to an industry trade portal, the Ajay Devgn-led multi-starrer collected Rs 2.50 crore on its first Monday, marking a significant drop in its daily earnings.
With earnings of Rs 7.25 crore on Day 1, Rs 8.25 crore on Day 2, and Rs 9.25 crore on Day 3, the movie had a respectable start.
At the beginning of the new week, though, it found it difficult to maintain the momentum, as the Monday figures dropped to Rs 2.50 crore. After four days of release, the movie's total domestic receipts now stand at Rs 27.25 crore.
Son of Sardaar 2 had an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 11.81% across theatres on Monday, August 4. As the day went on, audience attendance gradually increased; morning performances began the day with a low occupancy of 6.21%, which rose to 11.16% in the afternoon.
With an occupancy rate of 13.23% in the evening and 16.64% at the end of the day, night shows demonstrated a modest but consistent viewership. Strong competition from Dhadak 2, which debuted on the same day and is attracting attention from young people, may have affected the movie's performance. Dhadak 2 stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri.
Ajay Devgn's character, Jassi, travels to London at his wife Neeru Bajwa's request, only to be shocked by her abrupt demand for a divorce. The film is a follow-up to the 2012 blockbuster Son of Sardaar. Jassi, who is devastated and stranded in a strange place, meets Rabia (Mrunal Thakur), a passionate and vivacious musician who plays in an all-girl wedding dhol band.

The plot thickens as Rabia’s younger sister, Saba (Roshni Walia), falls in love with the son of Raja (Ravi Kishan), a traditional patriarch who insists on meeting the girl's parents before granting approval for the marriage. The catch: Saba’s parents are no longer alive, creating a unique dilemma that adds to the film’s emotional and comedic beats.
Featuring an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Roshni Walia, and others, Son of Sardaar 2 blends drama, music, and heartwarming family moments, though its box office journey so far suggests it has a tough road ahead in maintaining audience interest.
