The much-loved Drishyam franchise is gearing up for a high-stakes return with its third instalment, and the latest casting update has only raised expectations. According to a report by Pinkvilla, Jaideep Ahlawat has officially joined the cast of Drishyam 3, marking his first on-screen collaboration with Ajay Devgn and Tabu in the franchise.
After the massive success of the first two films, Drishyam 3 is being positioned as the most ambitious chapter yet. The makers are promising a narrative that goes deeper, darker, and far more unpredictable, with the recently released teaser already hinting at shocking twists and a larger emotional canvas. Jaideep Ahlawat’s addition is expected to significantly elevate the tension, given his reputation for intense, layered performances.
A source close to the development revealed that Ahlawat will begin shooting for the film in January 2026. “Jaideep has been roped in for a pivotal and extremely exciting role that brings a completely new angle to the story,” the source said, adding that his character will play a key part in driving the film’s central conflict forward.
Ajay Devgn is set to reprise his iconic role as Vijay Salgaonkar, the everyman whose intelligence and calm demeanour have kept audiences hooked since the franchise began. Tabu will once again return as IG Meera Deshmukh, continuing her long-standing and emotionally charged face-off with Vijay, a dynamic that has become one of the defining pillars of the series.
Drishyam 3 has also been making headlines due to reports of Akshaye Khanna exiting the project following the success of Dhurandhar. While there has been no official confirmation, industry buzz suggests that a disagreement over remuneration may have led to the actor stepping away from the film.
For context, the Drishyam franchise originated in 2013 with Jeetu Joseph’s Malayalam crime thriller, produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and starring Mohanlal as George Kutty. The Hindi remake rights were later acquired by Panorama Studios, which released the adaptation directed by the late Nishikant Kamat. With Drishyam 3, the franchise now looks set to redefine its own legacy once again.
