During a recent appearance on the Humans of Bombay podcast, Aman said, “I had a tragedy in my family, I've never spoken about it. I lost my brother in an accident and it was his birthday and in the night we lost him.”

Following the tragedy, Aman realised the importance of enjoying every single moment of life.

He added, “After that I realised life is like that, that you never know when kuch ho jaye, yahaan pe bete hain, aur toh aajaaye, upar se kuch gire jaye, you never know, right? Flight chal rahi hain, you're gone, right? (After that, I realised life is like that, that you never know when something might happen, you're here, and then you come, and something might fall from above, you never know, right? The flight is taking off, you're gone, right?).”

Aman further noted, “So after that I realised that every day you should enjoy.”

Talking about the initial days of boAt, he recalled, “When I started boAt, every day I enjoyed what I was doing, whether I had no money for five, six years of my life, but I every day had fun building boats. So I am that sort of a person, if that is your answer to your reflective question. I want happiness and joy in my life.”

Aman Gupta made headlines when he resigned as boAt's Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) only days before the company's initial public offering (IPO), amid his appearances on Shark Tank India.
