After its underwhelming theatrical run, action-romance film Romeo S3 is getting a second shot, this time on television. Director Guddu Dhanoa and lead actor Thakur Anoop Singh are hopeful that the audience will finally get to experience the film the way it was meant to be.
In an exclusive chat with Moneycontrol, Guddu Dhanoa and actor Thakur Anoop Singh poured their heart out.
The film is set for its World Television Premiere on July 19, 2025, at 10 PM on & pictures and both the filmmaker and actor are banking on TV’s long tail of viewership.
“Because there is always an audience on TV which keeps the film alive for years and gives that much love,” said Thakur Anoop Singh. “After getting down from the theatre, there is a hope for everyone to come on a good channel so that people keep watching and this film becomes a hit. So, having said that, I am very excited. You will be able to watch the film which people have missed. I will get their review. I am very excited.”
Looking back at the challenges during its release, Dhanoa pointed to real-world circumstances that affected the film’s reach. “When this film was released, there was a war. We didn’t get much time to do publicity. We couldn’t reach many audiences. It is coming on TV 19th July 2025 at 10pm. I think people will enjoy watching it. It is a very good film. Music is very good. Action is very good. Subject is very good. I think people will enjoy it.”
On casting, Dhanoa recalled how Anoop Singh was already attached to the project before he came on board. “Anoop was already in the film when Jayanti Bhai Gada called me to make the film. He told me to listen to the subject and to make the film. I listened to the subject.”
The female lead, Palak Tiwari, was discovered through online search. “I saw Palak Tiwari somewhere. I liked her a lot. I told my team to find out and meet her. We will tell her the subject. She was told and she said yes. She came in the film.”
Despite both leads being relatively new to films, Dhanoa found no difference in working with them. “All the actors I worked with were very experienced actors. I never had any problem. I got the same feeling with Anoop and Palak. I didn’t feel I was working with new people. Anoop has worked a lot in South India, Marathi, Mahabharat… his dialogue delivery, his memory is so good. He memorized the entire script. Same with Palak. He is a fantastic actor and a big star of the future.”
Singh, too, had glowing praise for the director. “I am a lucky man. He is a great actor and director. It is very important for me because I have started and it is a big thing for me to have a strong director in my career. I was very happy because the work was done so fast. When a director is very strong and he knows the story, it becomes very easy for him to depend on the actor. You just have to prepare yourself. Rest, he will handle it. I was very happy to work with him.”
He added that their communication on set was seamless. “I didn’t have to ask him anything. Both of us had an understanding. When I used to come to the set, I used to ask him to watch the scene and perform it. If he wants to add anything or not, I will do it. He used to watch my rehearsal and place his camera to get a tight close-up. The scene ends within 2 hours.”
With action, drama, and emotion packed in, both Dhanoa and Singh hope Romeo S3 finds the love it missed in theatres—right in the living rooms of India.
