  • Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic set for a major Eid 2026 box office clash
  • Yash confirms Toxic will release on March 19 despite rumors
  • "Toxic" to excel in southern states, "Dhurandhar 2" in Hindi markets

The countdown to Eid 2026 has already started and this means it is time for two big releases of the year - Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups. These two films are going to have a big box office clash, since Dhurandhar 2 is set on a holiday release date, there has been a lot of talk about whether Yash would move Toxic to avoid a conflict.

Yash has stuck to the March 19 release date for Toxic, even though there have been many rumors that it would be delayed.

Speaking to Variety India, a source close to Yash said “Yash is not operating on ego, contrary to what many might think. Yash is a very good businessman. If he had felt threatened by ‘Dhurandhar 2,’ he would have maybe considered postponing it. But he has immense confidence in the film’s content and is banking on a long-term theatrical run rather than just an opening weekend.”

The source said Yash is looking at the situation from a business point of view instead of an ego point of view. The actor is said to be very sure about the movie's content and is hoping for steady box office success over time instead of just focusing on the opening weekend numbers.

Trade experts say that while Dhurandhar 2 is getting a lot of attention in the Hindi market, especially since the first one was so popular, Toxic is very popular in the southern states, where Yash has a huge fan base thanks to the success of the KGF Chapter 2 franchise.

The source further said that Toxic was officially announced as early as December 2023, and the release date was set for March of last year.

Some team members say that there could have been better communication about the holiday date, saying that this kind of planning is more common in southern film industries.

Since neither movie is likely to change, the Eid weekend is shaping up to be one of the most important box office battles in a long time.

The race for screens has already gotten tougher, and both sides are ramping up their advertising efforts. Dhurandhar 2 seems to be leading the conversation in Hindi-speaking areas, but Toxic is likely to do well in the southern markets. This could lead to a pan-India face-off that changes how the box office works during the holidays.
