Veteran actor Venkatesh has praised Sobhita Dhulipala following the release of the trailer of her upcoming film Cheekatilo, calling it ‘a compelling thriller.’ The crime thriller, which recently unveiled its gripping trailer, has been receiving positive responses from both audiences and members of the film industry.
The Cheekatilo trailer was released by Prime Video India on Monday, January 12, and quickly garnered attention for its intense tone and intriguing narrative. Among the many celebrities who reacted to the trailer, Venkatesh stood out as he shared it on his Instagram story. Expressing his appreciation, he wrote, “Looks like a compelling thriller… best wishes to the entire team."
Soon after, actor Naga Chaitanya also showered praise on the trailer of his wife Sobhita Dhulipala’s film. Clearly impressed, Naga Chaitanya took to his Instagram story to share his thoughts, writing, “Intriguing… Looking forward to a solid performance. See you on January 23, 2026.”
Speaking about her role in the film, Sobhita Dhulipala opened up about her experience of portraying the character Sandhya.
She said, “Playing Sandhya has been a superb experience. She’s a front-footed young woman who is an independent thinker, deeply committed to standing by her belief system no matter the resistance. Her choices are shaped by a unique stubbornness that has a history of its own. Playing a character rooted in the by-lanes of Hyderabad and other Telugu localities and coming from a cultural background as my real self, the integration between the character and my own expression was seamless and utterly enjoyable.”
Directed by Sharan Kopishetty, Cheekatilo is an upcoming crime thriller that features Sobhita Dhulipala in the lead role. The film also stars Viswadev Rachakonda as the male lead, along with Chaitanya Visalakshmi, Esha Chawla, Jhansi, Aamani and Vadlamani Srinivas in key supporting roles.

When a brutal murder mirrors a series of unsolved killings from two decades ago, Sandhya finds herself pulled into a dangerous and unsettling investigation. The trailer hints at a chilling cat-and-mouse pursuit, raising questions about whether Sandhya will uncover the truth or become consumed by the darkness she is trying to expose.
The film is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on January 23.
