Since its announcement, Ustaad Bhagat Singh has been one of the most talked-about movies in Telugu cinema. The movie, which stars Pawan Kalyan, was recently the subject of rumors that it might be a remake of Theri. But director Harish Shankar has now firmly denied these claims.
Harish set the record straight about the rumors before the movie's big worldwide release on March 26, 2026.
He said that the movie is not a remake and that when he officially remade a movie with Gabbar Singh in the past, he did give credit for "changes by" in the title card.
He even said that filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli liked how open he was. He asked, "If this were a remake, why would I take credit for the story, screenplay, and direction?" He went on to say that just because two cop dramas are similar doesn't mean one is a remake.
He also said that it makes sense to compare them to movies like Theri, Temper, or Gabbar Singh because they are all in the same genre. He also said that the famous anthyakshari scene in Theri was based on Gabbar Singh, which makes the remake theory even less likely in his mind.
The buzz around the movie keeps getting bigger, though. Fans have really liked the new song "Dekhlenge Saala," and Pawan Kalyan's energetic dance moves have gotten a lot of attention online. The shoot is over, and the team has shared behind-the-scenes photos and videos of them celebrating the end of the project.
Earlier this year, the creators made the release date official with a striking poster that showed Pawan Kalyan in a serious way. With high hopes and fans counting down the days until March 26, Ustaad Bhagat Singh is getting ready to set the box office on fire.
