Since the release of the Toxic teaser a few days ago, it has gotten a lot of attention on social media, with one scene in particular getting a lot of attention. A short scene showing Yash's character having an intimate moment in a car quickly became a topic of conversation, with viewers online having mixed feelings about it.

Some people on social media didn't like the scene and said it was unnecessary and made women look like objects. Others were surprised that a woman directed the sequence. Toxic director Geetu Mohandas responded to the backlash with a pointed Instagram post. In it, she pushed back against the criticism and brought up the bigger issue of women's agency and pleasure.

A video that was shared with actor Rima Kallingal had the caption: "Chilling while people figure out female pleasure, consent, women playing systems, etc." A lot of people thought that the post was Geetu's way of responding to the trolling and the assumptions being made about the scene and its meaning.

Geetu has talked about Toxic in public before. Earlier, she wrote a heartfelt post praising Yash and calling him a rare combination of talent and fame. She said she was very proud of the actor, not just for how well he played Raya, but also for how disciplined and dedicated he was to the movie every day. She called the role an important part of his artistic legacy.
