  • Police say the comments caused emotional distress and public humiliation
  • Investigation underway as Rebba takes a stand against social media abuse

Telugu actor Eesha Rebba, who won hearts with her performance in Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi, has taken a stand against online harassment after experiencing a deeply troubling incident on social media.

The actor approached the Banjara Hills Police Station to file a formal complaint, seeking justice for the abuse she faced during the film’s promotional activities, according to ANI.

Eesha Rebba alleges that an individual operating a meme or social media account posted a sexually explicit, obscene, and defamatory comment on a public page.

The Banjara Hills Police described the language used as disturbing and derogatory, emphasising that it amounts to mental harassment. “Such content not only targets her dignity as a woman but also causes severe emotional distress and public humiliation,” the authorities said, adding that the actor has suffered significant anxiety and mental turmoil.

The police are currently investigating the matter, and Eesha Rebba has yet to make a personal statement on her social media.

The complaint highlights a broader issue facing public figures, particularly women, in the age of social media. Platforms meant for connection and celebration can sometimes become spaces for abuse, leaving artists vulnerable to attacks on their dignity and mental wellbeing.

By taking legal action, Eesha Rebba is making it clear that such behaviour is unacceptable and will not be ignored.

On the professional front, Eesha Rebba has been receiving acclaim for her work in Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi, the Telugu remake of the Malayalam hit Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, which starred Darshana Rajendran and Basil Joseph.

Directed by A R Sajeev, the film also features Tharun Bhascker. It was during the promotional phase of this project that Eesha Rebba encountered the harassment that prompted her to seek police intervention.
