  • Sirai, Vikram Prabhu's 25th film, is now on OTT and dubbed in Telugu.
  • The crime drama excels with authentic police portrayal and strong performances.
  • L. K. Akshay Kumar's role as Abdul Rauf is a highlight of the movie

Sirai is the 25th movie of actor Vikram Prabhu. This film is a criminal drama that was out in theaters on Christmas Eve and did very well at the box office.

The movie is currently on OTT platforms, and there is a Telugu-dubbed version, which makes it available to more people. Here's a fresh look at the movie and what it has to offer.

The story:

Sirai takes place in Guntur in 2003 and follows Srinivas (Vikram Prabhu), who is the head policeman of the Armed Reserve. Srinivas needs to shoot a prisoner who is trying to escape. Because of it, higher-ups are investigating the event. Srinivas gets to execute another unpleasant duty while the investigation is still going on: he has to convey Abdul Rauf (L. K. Akshay Kumar), a convicted murderer, from a central prison in Kurnool.

As the trip goes on, Srinivas starts to feel something is wrong. Things go bad when Abdul abruptly leaves. Srinivas and his crew are in a tight battle against time since they have to go to court the next day. Who is Abdul really? What led him to this point? And can Srinivas solve the problem before it's too late? The movie slowly gives solutions to these questions.

What Works:

One of the best things about Sirai is the way it sees things. The movie doesn't focus on high-ranking police officers who are presented as unbeatable heroes. Instead, it concentrates on a chief constable from the Armed Reserve, which presents a more genuine and human portrayal of life as a police officer. This unique approach of recounting the story makes it seem more authentic.

Vikram Prabhu plays the role in a style that is calm and honest, which fits the character. But L. K. Akshay Kumar is definitely the best actor in the movie. His portrayal of Abdul Rauf portrays inner conflict, grief, and quiet optimism, which makes his role emotionally strong and vital to the film's impact.

The flashbacks that come from Abdul's point of view are really strong since they make the story more emotional. The escape sequence, the police station scene that comes after it, and the tension sections before and at the climax are all done really effectively. The last 30 minutes, which involve courtroom drama and emotional fights, keep the audience interested.

Anishma Anilkumar plays Kalavathi very well, and so do the other performers.

What doesn't:

The movie doesn't have many serious problems. Some individuals might think the first parts are a little too predictable, but the tale moves along swiftly after that. Vikram Prabhu is on screen a lot, but his part doesn't provide him much chance to show off his acting skills. The part concerning his personal life, particularly his wife's character, doesn't add much to the main story and doesn't seem fully developed.

The flashback passages may have been more emotionally impactful if they had gone into more detail about the romantic connection and the struggle.

Director Suresh Rajakumari makes a great first impression with a well-written story and controlled execution that doesn't betray that he's new to the business. Justin Prabhakaran's background music does a superb job at building tension and providing emotional weight to the movie.

Verdict:

Sirai is a well-made crime drama with a good storyline and excellent direction. Vikram Prabhu performs a terrific job, but L. K. Akshay Kumar's outstanding performance really makes the movie work.
