The ongoing divorce proceedings between actor Vijay and his estranged wife, Sankgeetha Sornalingam, have taken a new turn, with fresh details emerging from the court.

As the case continues, Sankgeetha Sornalingam has reportedly filed another petition, seeking clarity and security over her living arrangements during this difficult phase.

According to reports, Sankgeetha Sornalingam has approached the court requesting an interim order that would allow her to continue staying in the couple’s matrimonial home in Neelankarai until the divorce proceedings are concluded.

In her filing, she is said to have expressed concern that she could be denied accommodation while the legal battle is ongoing. To safeguard her position, she has also sought legal protection from the court.

According to an Indian Express report, Sankgeetha Sornalingam, a United Kingdom citizen, has stated that she does not have a residence of her own in India.

Given these circumstances, she has requested permission to remain in the matrimonial home she once shared with Thalapathy Vijay, or alternatively, to be provided with suitable accommodation. The petition also reportedly includes a plea for the “payment of fair and reasonable permanent alimony”.

The divorce petition was filed on February 27 at the Chengalpattu family court in Chennai. Sankgeetha Sornalingam has sought divorce on the grounds of adultery, amid reports linking Thalapathy Vijay to actress Trisha Krishnan.

As per the petition, Sankgeetha Sornalingam has accused Thalapathy Vijay of infidelity, alleging that he was involved in an “adulterous relationship” with an actress.

The document states, “In April 2021, the Petitioner (Sankgeetha) discovered that the Respondent (Vijay) was involved in an adulterous relationship with an actress. This caused her deep emotional pain and mental suffering, amounting to betrayal and violation of marital trust.” It further alleges that the actor “continued open association with the actress,” which, according to the petition, caused her emotional distress and embarrassment to their children.

As the matter remains before the court, both parties are now awaiting the next stage of the legal process.
