Deepika Padukone recently exited from the highly anticipated Prabhas-starring Kalki: 2898 AD sequel. Fans have been curiously waiting to see who will take Deepika’s place in the sequel following her exit.
According to Siasat, Deepika is reported to be replaced by Sai Pallavi in the film.
Meanwhile, there’s no confirmation from the makers or Sai Pallavi about her involvement in the project.
It's interesting to note that Sai Pallavi has a number of Bollywood ventures planned. In Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, she will play Sita. Ranbir Kapoor and Yash will play Ram and Ravan, respectively.
Additionally, Sai will appear in Ek Din alongside Junaid Khan, the son of Aamir Khan.
The producers of the Prabhas-starring movie revealed Deepika's departure from the picture in September 2025 via their official X account. A movie like Kalki "deserves commitment," according to the announcement, hence Deepika is no longer involved in the project.
The statement reads, “This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, We have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works.”
Subsequently, a number of publications stated that Deepika's demand for a 25% increase in her earnings with a 7-hour work shift led the creators of Kalki 2 to decide to fire her. The actress reportedly resisted the producers' attempts to compromise on these two demands.
