The much-anticipated sequel to the 2025 action thriller Kingdom, starring Vijay Deverakonda, has been officially cancelled, leaving fans a little disappointed after the excitement surrounding the first film.

Producer Naga Vamsi confirmed the news, putting an end to all speculation about Kingdom 2.

Speaking to Idlebrain, he said simply, “Yeah, there is no Kingdom 2.” When asked whether the original film was always meant to be a standalone story, he added thoughtfully, “There is no point in talking about it, other than hurting Gowtam.”

Despite the cancellation, Naga Vamsi reassured fans that his collaboration with director Gowtam Tinnanuri is far from over. “But yeah, we will collaborate with Gowtam. He is doing a different film now. After that we will do a film,” he shared.

The producer also revealed that he has already wrapped work on another project with Gowtam Tinnanuri titled Magic, which has finished production but is yet to hit theatres. It seems audiences will still get to see the creative pairing in action, just in a new story.

Kingdom, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, featured Vijay Deverakonda in the lead, alongside Satyadev Kancharana and Bhagyashri Borse. During its development, the film was referred to as VD12 and was expected to launch a bigger franchise.

The story followed a conflicted police officer who goes undercover on a dangerous mission, forcing him to face his own inner struggles as events spiral out of control.

The gripping action sequences and Vijay Deverakonda’s intense performance won the film plenty of praise, which is why fans had hoped for a sequel to continue the story.

While Kingdom 2 won’t be happening, Vijay Deverakonda is set to return to the action genre with Rowdy Janardhana, slated for release in 2026. Fans can look forward to seeing him in another high-octane role, bringing his signature intensity back to the big screen.
