Filmmaker Prasanth Varma has been making headlines recently amid reports of actors exiting his upcoming Telugu project and speculation surrounding alleged financial disagreements. The developments have sparked widespread discussion within the industry, particularly regarding one of the most anticipated collaborations linked to the director.
According to a report by Gulte, Prabhas and Prasanth Varma were expected to team up for a mythological drama tentatively titled Baka, with Prabhas reportedly set to portray the demon Bakasura.
The ambitious project was said to be backed by Mythri Movie Makers, and reports suggested that a test shoot featuring the actor had already been conducted a few months ago.
The film was expected to present Prabhas in the formidable role of Bakasura, generating considerable excitement among fans eager to see the actor in a mythological avatar. A test shoot of the actor also took place a few months ago. But, the latest report suggests that Prabhas is not happy after the shoot and has stepped away from the project. An official confirmation is still awaited.
However, the latest report suggests that Prabhas was not fully convinced after the shoot and is believed to have stepped away from the project.
Meanwhile, fresh updates indicate that the actor is preparing to resume work on his upcoming period action drama Fauzi. According to Telugu Chitraalu, Prabhas is currently holidaying in Italy and is expected to return later this week. He is likely to rejoin the shoot of Fauzi soon after returning from his short vacation.
Although there has been no official statement from either Prabhas or the makers regarding the reported exit, industry insiders suggest that the mythological project may not move forward at this stage.

Earlier reports also indicated that Ranveer Singh’s Brahma Rakshasa and Nandamuri Mokshagna’s debut project had encountered hurdles. Interestingly, the Prabhas-led mythological film was earlier speculated to begin production before Kalki 2898 AD: Part II and Salaar Part II, making the current turn of events even more unexpected.
Prasanth Varma’s previous release, Hanu-Man, hit theatres on January 12, 2024, and marked the launch of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), setting the stage for a larger interconnected storytelling vision.
