The movie Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi released on January 30 and didn't do well at the box office. It stars Tharun Bhascker and Eesha Rebba. The movie is the official Telugu version of the Malayalam movie Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey.
The remake was directed by A R Sajeev. It keeps the main conflict from the original story but changes other things to make it fit with Telugu culture.
A Story from the Godavari Belt
Tharun Bhascker plays Omkar Naidu, a fish seller, in the movie, which is set in the beautiful Godavari region. Eesha Rebba plays Shanti, a young woman who marries someone so she may go back to school. Before the wedding, Omkar tells her this.
A marriage. A family. A truth that changes everything.#OmShanthiShantiShantihi, streaming from March 4 only on #aha.#OSSS#TharunBhascker@ahavideoIN@yourseesha@actorbrahmajipic.twitter.com/FKVIJQTMyb— ahavideoin (@ahavideoIN) February 23, 2026
But after they get married, Omkar breaches his promise and over time becomes controlling and violent. Shanti feels stuck in a horrible home life as her relationship gets worse.
She learns karate in secret so she won't be a victim. Shanti decides to fight back when Omkar's anger turns into physical violence. She decides to fight for herself and get her freedom back, even though her parents and family don't help her much.
Some people said that the movie did a good job of making the drama feel like it was happening in the area by using regional languages and a Godavari setting. However, it didn't quite reach the emotional depth of the original. The beginning parts are funny and deal with important issues like domestic violence. However, when the tone changed to a more serious one, it didn't have the same gripping drive as the Malayalam version.
People had varying thoughts about the movie, but they all agreed that Tharun Bhascker did a great job playing the part, especially how well he spoke the Godavari accent. People also enjoyed how confident and strong Eesha Rebba was as Shanti.
Confirmed Release Date for OTT
