Producer Dil Raju is now backing the most ambitious project of Balagam fame director Venu Yeldandi, titled Yellamma.
Following the nationwide acclaim for his National Award–winning debut, Venu returns with a script described as both powerful and spiritually evocative. The film is being produced by Shirish under the renowned Sri Venkateswara Creations banner.
Adding to the excitement, music maestro Devi Sri Prasad, who has dominated the industry with decades of chart-topping albums, makes his much-anticipated debut as a lead actor. The choice of Yellamma as his first starring role has sparked immense curiosity, as the project perfectly aligns with his dynamic energy and creative persona. Beyond acting, DSP is also composing the film’s music, adding another layer to his multifaceted involvement.
Yellamma is set against a backdrop of divine energy and draws inspiration from indigenous traditions, folklore, and cultural beliefs. On the auspicious occasion of Makara Sankranti, the makers unveiled the first glimpse of the film, offering audiences a taste of its mystical world and emotional resonance.
The glimpse opens with a lone neem leaf caught in a swirling vortex, suddenly soaring skyward. A goat watches intently as the scene intensifies. A man rushes in with ankle bells jingling, while another dashes from the opposite direction wearing rugged shoes.
The neem leaf ascends above the clouds, transforming into the divine presence of the Mother Goddess. Rain pours down, drenching the land, prompting the goat to shake off the water in a sudden flutter. Amidst the storm, beside a tree with a sickle resting against its trunk, a shirtless man straps a drum around his waist and positions himself on a rock. The drifting neem leaf glides behind him and lands gently. As he turns, Devi Sri Prasad is revealed in full glory as Parshi.
This initial glimpse establishes a narrative deeply entrenched in culture and spirituality, with DSP delivering a strikingly intense debut. Sporting long hair and a rugged look, he embodies the character with remarkable authenticity. The visual motifs of neem, turmeric, and vermillion imbue the sequence with a divine aura, while DSP’s electrifying musical score heightens the dramatic impact.
Even this brief glimpse has sent expectations for Yellamma soaring. The film is slated for a Pan-India release, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages.
