On August 14, 2025, Rajinikanth's Coolie, which was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, opened in theaters. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the movie became a commercial success, but Reba Monica John, one of its co-stars, has now expressed her displeasure with the way her role played out on screen.
In a conversation with her fans, Reba said she was discouraged by her small role in the movie. "I feel so disappointed and angry. I am aware that I could have provided much more, but sometimes circumstances do not work out as planned. Nevertheless, she expressed her happiness at the opportunity to collaborate with Thalaivar Rajinikanth.
Reba played Revathi Rajasekar in Coolie, who was the younger sister of Preethi, played by Shruti Haasan. When Rajinikanth's Deva saves her during a tense scene in the movie, her character was at the center of the action. In contrast to the excitement surrounding her casting, many fans thought her screen time was short.
An old interview in which Reba talked about her desire to work with Rajinikanth and how she got the part in Coolie through networking, even though it was a smaller part, came to light as her remarks started making the rounds online.
Reba, who mostly works in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam movies, made her acting debut opposite Nivin Pauly in Jacobinte Swargarajyam. She later starred with Jai in Jarugandi, and Atlee's Bigil, which starred Vijay, helped her become more well-known. Vijay and the actress will soon be reunited in his next political action drama, Jana Nayagan.
In the meantime, Coolie tells the tale of Deva, a former daily wage worker who has spent more than thirty years hiding. After his close friend Rajasekhar's suspicious death, his life changes and he learns things about his own past. With a cameo by Aamir Khan and a special dance number by Pooja Hegde, the film's star-studded cast includes Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra Rao, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Rachita Ram.
