Actress Raveena Tandon recently made an unexpected confession after watching Dhurandhar, and it came with a playful apology to Yami Gautam. The senior star revealed that she was so impressed by the film that she immediately called Yami to say sorry for becoming a fan of her husband, director Aditya Dhar.

Speaking during a Zoom Spotlight podcast session, Raveena shared how deeply the film impacted her. “I saw Dhurandhar and I called Yami Gautam and said, ‘I am sorry. I am the biggest fan of your husband. You have to share my attention with your husband because I think he is completely it.’”

Her admiration did not stop there. Raveena went on to praise Aditya Dhar’s vision and execution, crediting him for reviving a certain larger-than-life cinematic experience that audiences had been missing. “He completely brought back what was missing. The audience got satisfaction after seeing films like Pushpa, KGF, Dhurandhar and more. They felt like the hero was looking like a hero. It is coming back to your country, its problems and dealing with it. Hero is coming out as a hero.”

Dhurandhar, which released in theatres on December 5 last year, went on to become a massive box office success. Set in Lyari town in Karachi, the film explores covert intelligence operations against the backdrop of major geopolitical events, including the Kandahar plane hijacking, the 2001 Parliament attack, and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. The film reportedly collected Rs 1300 crore worldwide, with over ₹800 crore coming from India, marking one of the highest domestic totals for a Hindi film.

The film stars Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna in lead roles and features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. Raveena had special words for the cast as well.

During the same interaction, she was informed that Ranveer Singh considers himself one of her biggest fans. Reacting with amusement, she said, “He was a 10-year-old when he came to see me doing a sensuous song. I loved him in Dhurandhar. Aditya is a genius. He is beyond the word mind blowing. Sanjay and Akshaye were so outstanding. Sara was so brilliant. Rakesh Bedi sir and Gaurav Gera were amazing.”

The franchise is already gearing up for its next chapter. The sequel, titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is scheduled to release on March 19. It is expected to clash at the box office with Yash’s pan-India project Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geethu Mohandas. The upcoming film also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Akshay Oberoi, and Sudev Nair, with Yash also co-writing the project.
