Recently, Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji celebrated a significant milestone by winning her first National Award for Best Actress for her strong performance in Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway.

Rani made the award ceremony even more memorable by donning a gold necklace engraved with her daughter Adira's initials. This was a heartfelt way to remember her little girl on this momentous day.

The National Awards celebration took place at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.

Images and videos from the occasion, which featured Rani sitting next to Shah Rukh Khan and looking stunning in a brown Sabyasachi saree, went viral on the internet. But it was that delicate necklace that caught everyone’s eye, symbolising the emotional connection between Rani’s own motherhood and the story she brought to life on screen.

The film follows a mother’s fierce battle to regain custody of her children after Norwegian authorities take them away, a storyline that clearly hit close to home.

Rani married filmmaker Aditya Chopra in 2014, and they welcomed their daughter Adira the next year.

Shah Rukh Khan shared the Best Actor award with Vikrant Massey, who was recognised for his role in 12th Fail, while Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani won Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, directed by Ashima Chibber, is inspired by the real-life story of Sagarika Chakraborty, whose children were taken away by Norwegian child welfare services, leading to a heart-wrenching legal battle.

The film's emotional impact and Rani's riveting performance earned it favourable reviews when it was released in 2023. The film found a wider audience on streaming platforms, where it continued to win hearts, despite having a modest run at the box office.

In the upcoming action-packed Abhiraj Minawala film Mardaani 3, fans can anticipate seeing a different side of Rani.

With the first poster generating buzz during Navratri, it's obvious that Rani is far from done surprising us. The eagerly awaited sequel is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026.
