Ram Charan is gearing up for his highly anticipated film, Peddi

Following RRR's worldwide success, Ram Charan is prepared to make a big-screen comeback with Peddi, another ambitious project. One of the most anticipated Telugu movies of 2026 is this upcoming rural sports drama, which is directed by Buchi Babu Sana of Uppena fame.

Ram Charan portrays a fiery village hero

Peddi promises a powerful fusion of emotion, unity, pride, and sportsmanship against the backdrop of a rustic village. Playing a strong village kid who becomes the lifeblood of his community, Ram Charan will be seen in a lively avatar.

Among the Most Expensive Telugu Movies Ever

Peddi is on course to become one of the most costly Telugu films ever produced, with a budget that has already surpassed Rs 250 crore. According to insiders, the production cost could potentially reach Rs 300 crore as the filmmakers go all out to recreate the 1980s setting.

On the outskirts of Hyderabad, a sprawling set that resembles the 1980s town of Vizianagaram is presently being built. To authentically capture the period, renowned art director Avinash Kolla is creating detailed replicas of village houses, streets, a train station, and even a sports stadium.

"The cost is increasing because the makers are sparing no expense — from elaborate period sets to top-notch technical crew," the Deccan Chronicle cited sources as saying. It will resemble Vizianagaram almost exactly.

Record-Shaking OTT Agreement with Netflix

The digital rights to Peddi were reportedly purchased by Netflix for an astounding Rs 105–110 crore, one of the highest-ever OTT deals for a Telugu movie, which increased the excitement. According to industry insiders, if the film does well in theatres, its value could increase.

It's interesting to note that Netflix is reportedly heavily involved in organising the movie's release plan. Ram Charan's birthday is March 27, 2026, when Peddi is scheduled to open in theatres, making it the ideal occasion for fans to celebrate.

Music, Star Cast, and More

Janhvi Kapoor plays the film's female lead, and important roles are played by Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Divyenndu Sharma. The renowned A.R. Rahman, who is writing the soundtrack and has already finished four songs, is adding to the excitement.

Peddi is being developed as a pan-India spectacle that combines rich storytelling with mass appeal. It is co-produced by Vriddhi Cinemas and Mythri Movie Makers and presented by Sukumar Writings.

With a record-breaking OTT deal, a strong cast, Oscar-winning music, and high expectations, Peddi is poised to be a landmark movie in Ram Charan's career. Fans can anticipate a spectacular theatrical debut and an emotionally stirring tale that honours India's interior.
