The ground-breaking Indo-Australian film initiative is formally returning with its second installment after the success and widespread acclaim of My Melbourne. The initiative, which is led by Mind Blowing Films and presented by the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, aims to strengthen the cinematic ties between India and Australia while promoting cultural diversity.

Renowned filmmakers Rima Das, Onir, Imtiaz Ali, and Kabir Khan contributed their artistic visions to the first chapter of My Melbourne, which debuted in March 2025 in both countries.

With its exploration of identity, gender, race, sexuality, and disability, the anthology produced provocative stories that resonated with readers all over the world. The film's status as a remarkable cultural collaboration was further cemented when it won Best Film at the UK Asian Film Festival, further recognising its potent storytelling.

Now that the second installment has been formally revealed, excitement is growing as a new group of well-known filmmakers get ready to take over. Filmmaking titans Rajkumar Hirani, Anjali Menon, Shoojit Sircar, and returning director Onir will helm stories in the next edition, which promises to be another round of powerful storytelling that cuts across boundaries.

Speaking about the sequel, Rajkumar Hirani said, "I am truly excited to be part of a project that uses cinema to explore diverse human experiences while connecting two vibrant cultures. My Melbourne offers a rare opportunity to tell a story that is intimate, universal, and culturally resonant.”

Shoojit Sircar stated, "Storytelling knows no boundaries. My Melbourne is a meaningful initiative that reminds us how stories rooted in local contexts can have global significance. I’m grateful to be part of this cross-cultural cinematic dialogue.

Backed by a stellar lineup of filmmakers, My Melbourne is set to unveil another chapter of emotionally resonant, culturally layered, and socially impactful storytelling—further strengthening the artistic and diplomatic ties between India and Australia.
