Rajinikanth has once again reminded fans why his off-screen gestures often draw as much attention as his films. The superstar recently met Padma, a sanitation worker whose honest act had earned widespread appreciation across Tamil Nadu. Padma had returned a bag containing valuables she found during work, a gesture that quickly caught public attention. In recognition of her integrity, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin felicitated her and presented a cheque of Rs one lakh.
Adding to the wave of appreciation, Rajinikanth met Padma personally and expressed his admiration for her honesty. The meeting quietly reinforced the actor’s long-standing habit of acknowledging everyday heroes, often away from media glare.
This was not an isolated gesture. Only a few days earlier, Rajinikanth had honoured an ardent fan from Madurai, Rajini Sekar, who runs a small eatery selling parottas at an economical price of Rs five per piece to help the poor. Sources close to the actor shared pictures of Rajinikanth meeting the fan along with his family and gifting him a gold chain as a token of appreciation. The act resonated strongly online, with many praising the actor for spotlighting dignity in ordinary lives.
On the professional front, Rajinikanth remains as busy as ever. He is currently working on Jailer 2, directed by Nelson. The sequel follows the massive success of the first film and is among the most anticipated Tamil releases.
The actor has also confirmed that he will begin shooting for director Cibi Chakravarthy’s next film in April this year. Speaking to fans outside his residence during Pongal celebrations, Rajinikanth described the project as a “proper commercial entertainer.” The film, tentatively titled Thalaivar173, is being produced by Kamal Haasan’s banner Raaj Kamal Films International.
The project has generated significant buzz, especially after an unexpected change in directors. Sundar C, who was initially attached to the film and had described it as a magnum opus, later exited the project. The makers subsequently announced Cibi Chakravarthy as the director. Music for the film will be composed by Anirudh, and it carries the tagline “Every family has a hero.”
Between thoughtful real-life gestures and high-profile projects, Rajinikanth continues to balance superstardom with a grounded connection to people, reinforcing the image that has defined his legacy for decades.
