PVR INOX Limited has taken a remarkable step forward by bringing cinema to one of the most breathtaking — and challenging — locations in the country.
The company has officially launched Leh–Ladakh’s first multiplex, which also happens to be India’s highest cinema site, perched at an altitude of 11,500 feet above sea level.
The new property, which is situated along the Leh–Manali Bypass Road in Solar Colony, Saboo, represents a significant expansion for PVR INOX Limited and a momentous occasion for the area.
The opening of a contemporary multiplex is more than just a commercial venture for Ladakh, where life moves more slowly amid mountains, monasteries, and expansive skies.
Cinema has always been loved here, but access to state-of-the-art theatres has been limited. This opening changes that. Locals and travellers can now enjoy films in a comfortable, premium setting without having to compromise on technology or experience.
The two-screen multiplex has been carefully designed to meet PVR INOX Limited’s national standards while adapting to the realities of high-altitude conditions. Both auditoriums feature 2K projection for crisp visuals, Dolby 7.1 surround sound and next-generation 3D technology.
Sound design posed a unique challenge at this altitude, where thin air can dull acoustics. Turning this into an opportunity, PVR INOX Limited worked closely with Pulz and used precision-engineered German components to create a customised audio system that delivers rich, immersive sound comparable to top cinemas across the world.
Adding to the experience is Leh’s first-ever food court, developed in partnership with Devyani International Limited.
The location, which is the first of its kind in the area, offers guests a contemporary dining option with cosy interiors and breathtaking mountain views by bringing together well-known international brands like KFC, Pizza Hut, Costa Coffee, and Vaango.
Situated on the more sedate outskirts of Leh town, the multiplex blends in perfectly with its surroundings. It is a new social area where people can relax, interact, and spend time together rather than just a place to watch films.

Reflecting on the milestone, Mr. Ajay Bijli, Managing Director, PVR INOX Limited, said, “Launching a multiplex in Leh is a truly proud moment for us. Few places in the world offer a setting as extraordinary as Ladakh, and bringing world-class cinema to 11,500 feet reflects our commitment to reaching audiences everywhere. This destination blends the magic of movies with the majesty of the mountains, making it a remarkable addition to the PVR INOX journey.”
Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, Executive Director, PVR INOX Limited, added, “Each time we enter a new region, our goal is to create a space that fits naturally into its environment while elevating the community’s entertainment experience. Launching India’s highest multiplex in Leh is a proud moment for us as it reflects our commitment to innovative, design-led expansion and our belief that world-class cinema should reach audiences everywhere.”
