Priyanka Chopra has once again commanded global attention, this time for her striking appearance at the premiere of The Bluff. The actress stepped onto the red carpet in a breathtaking yellow saree gown by Gaurav Gupta, instantly making headlines for a look that seamlessly blended Indian tradition with a contemporary, international edge.
For the promotional event of her upcoming film, Priyanka chose a sari-inspired ensemble that reinterpreted the timeless Indian silhouette through a modern couture lens. The vibrant yellow hue amplified the drama of the outfit, while its sculptural construction transformed the classic sari into a red-carpet statement piece.
Taking to Instagram, Priyanka shared a series of photographs and accompanied them with a detailed note explaining the inspiration behind her look, which served as a tribute to her character, Ercell Bodden.
She wrote, "Wearing this is an ode to Ercell Bodden, my character in The Bluff. In the opening of the film she appears with a dupatta over her head, a subtle but meaningful marker of identity and strength. I love a saree. And when I saw this piece walk down the couture runway last month, it felt like a saree with a modern twist. We immediately called Gaurav and asked him to hold it for me."
Further reflecting on the enduring power of the garment, she wrote, "There’s a quiet power in its simplicity. The precision of the tailoring, the way it drapes and moves, felt both rooted and forward looking, and the bright yellow is so synonymous with the colorful palette of India. To me, this piece is a testament to the growing global scope of Indian fashion and how beautifully our heritage continues to evolve. Ps: Don’t miss my treasure chest."
On the couture runway, Gaurav Gupta’s sari-inspired designs are widely recognized for their architectural precision, bold slits, and sculptural drama. The model who originally presented the yellow ensemble carried it with a statuesque poise, highlighting its sharp structure and avant-garde aesthetic.
Priyanka, however, reinterpreted the look through her own lens. While maintaining the dramatic thigh-high slit and structured draping, she brought a softer dimension to the outfit with her effortless confidence and signature charisma, making the couture piece feel both powerful and personal.
What sets this sari-inspired gown apart is its cultural duality. Rooted in Indian heritage, the sari here is reinvented as a contemporary global couture statement. Gaurav’s design does away with traditional pleats and the conventional pallu, opting instead for fluid drapes and a corset-style bodice aligned with international red-carpet trends.
Priyanka, who plays a pirate named Ercell ‘Bloody Mary’ Bodden in the movie, completed her look with a treasure chest-shaped bag.
She even wrote about her accessory in the caption, “PS: Don’t miss my treasure chest.”

And the bag is priced at a whopping $7,295, which is approximately Rs 6,63,62.
Apart from the high end bag, Priyanka accessorised the saree gown with golden stilettos, rings, and earrings.
