In a moment that has filled hearts with pride across the nation — and especially in Kerala — Malayalam cinema’s beloved icon, Mohanlal, will be honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2023, the highest recognition in Indian cinema.
The award will be presented during the 71st National Film Awards ceremony on 23rd September 2025.
Congratulating Mohanlal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described him as a bright star in Indian film.
He wrote, "Shri Mohanlal G is a symbol of talent and acting versatility. Through decades-long unique artistic journey, he stands as a prominent figure in Malayalam cinema and theater, with a deep commitment to Kerala culture. He has also delivered outstanding performances in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi films. His brilliance across film and theater mediums is truly inspiring."
"Congratulations to him on receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. May his achievements inspire future generations." His post added.
