Bollywood’s much-loved comedy franchise Hera Pheri has once again hit a roadblock, leaving fans waiting longer for its third instalment. While speculation around the delay has been swirling for months, Paresh Rawal has now stepped in to set the record straight, making it clear that the issue has nothing to do with him.

During his recent appearance on The Lavari Show, Paresh Rawal, who immortalised the role of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, confirmed that Hera Pheri 3 is very much happening. However, he revealed that the delay is due to a ‘technical issue’ between Akshay Kumar and the makers of the film.

Addressing rumours that he was somehow responsible for the hold-up, the veteran actor clarified: “This is a technical issue between the producer and an actor. Nothing to do with me. When these two resolve the issue, I’ll just have to sign (the papers).”

Paresh Rawal also dismissed reports suggesting that legal disputes had derailed the project.

Reacting to gossip about Akshay Kumar allegedly suing him for Rs 25 crore, he brushed it off casually. “All this that had blown up in between that Akshay Kumar has sued me for Rs 25 crores, that is all okay yaa, it’s like kachva chaap agarbatti,” he said, clearly indicating that such rumours should not be taken seriously.

Reaffirming his commitment to the franchise, Paresh Rawal stressed that Hera Pheri 3 would “definitely” be made once the technical matters are sorted out. “So, it’s simple, if this gets resolved between the two, I will sign the papers. Nothing to do with me, but it will happen 100%,” he stated confidently.

The actor also spoke candidly about the importance of his character Baburao in the Hera Pheri universe. Without mincing words, Rawal warned that attempting to make the film without Baburao would be a mistake. “Even at the cost of modesty, I am saying that if they’re going with the idea of doing Hera Pheri without Babu Rao, then it will be a disaster,” he said, underlining how central the character is to the franchise’s charm and success.

The Hera Pheri franchise began in 2000 with Priyadarshan’s cult comedy starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal. Its sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, released in 2006 and went on to become equally iconic. With the original trio expected to reunite for Hera Pheri 3, fans remain hopeful that the technical issues will soon be resolved and the laughter will finally return to the big screen.
