Actor Pankaj Tripathi, who has moved effortlessly across theatre, cinema, and OTT, continues to define success in deeply personal terms. The scale of his career has expanded dramatically over the years and now he has decided to slow down and work at his own pace.
In an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol, when we asked Pankaj Tripathi about what made him decide to slow down, the actor says he is a position now that he can experiment with it and he is really enjoying this phase now.
We asked him about what he plans to do in future, now that he has turned producer with his own theatre production, to this Pankaj said he wants to produce his own movie as well.
He admitted that the thought of producing stories close to his heart has begun to take shape.
"Freedom mili hai ki main pane mann ki story ka hi hissa banoonga, har kahhani ka hissa nahi banoonga.Plus at the back of the mind film produce karne ka bhi mann chal raha hai kyunki kai stories commercial value assessment mein kai achchi kahaniyan miss ho jati hai. I want to do that too."
At the same time, a very different dream is turning real for Pankaj too. He is going to take an entrepreneurial step rooted in culture and in two-three months he will come out with his own start up related to Handloom.
“Apne mann ka kaam karna hai aur itemenan se karna hai. Main aik handloom se sambhandit aik bahut hi jald startup karne ka soch raha hoon because I love handloom a lot. So Handloom ko main kaise promote karoon. (I am planning to start something related to handloom. I love handloom and want to promote it. I am in touch with handloom communities in Karnataka, Kutch and Bihar. I want to do something for the weavers.”)
He told Moneycontrol that research, suppliers, and groundwork are already underway, and the venture could begin soon.
Unlike celebrity brands built on visibility, Pankaj's initiative is guided by preservation of craft, community, and heritage.
Pankaj Tripathi also said he wants to do something for the weavers and give back to the society.
Pankaj's return to theatre
Pankaj Tripathi as also made a comeback to theatre after a gap of almost 12 years with his home production Lailaaj.
At the height of his flourishing career, Pankaj Tripathi has made a decision of slowing down in his professional life.
“Life has reached a stage where work should be done with time and calm. Running all the time is not necessary. I have slowed down a little. I will try being slow for a year or two. If I feel I am not working enough, I can always become fast again. But right now, I am enjoying slowing down," he told us.
That philosophy also extends to wealth and fulfilment as well, he says: "Either you control money or money controls you. Money is not a parameter of the happiness index. You can buy time with money, but happiness depends on how you use that time.”
Pankaj Tripathi’s return to theatre is not only artistic but deeply personal, shaped by family collaboration and a renewed emotional connection to the stage.
